Writing Fun by Jenny Eather
This site has a number of different writing pieces that can help your students write. The user chooses the type of writing piece on the right hand side of the menu page. It then provides you with an example of how to organize your work, questions to think about as you are writing their essay, and helpful tips to remember as they are writing. In addition to these features, say a student needs a better idea of what a information essay looks like they have a number of examples provided complete with pictures. The examples work up from basic to more advanced. Students can also publish their work online within this site. You may wish to use this site as a visual aide when instructing the students on different writing pieces or it could be used by the students themselves throughout the writing process.
Pic-Lits
This is described by the site as inspired picture writing. This would be a good way for students to use their descriptive vocabulary or to use a background to a short story or poem. The user selects a picture form the scrolling menu at the top. Then they make a description using either the words provided or they can use the "freestyle" tab and type in their own. The "Pic-Lits" can be saved, email, or shared with others.
