Edcanvas - Quick and Easy Way to Create Lessons with Videos and Quizes

Edcanvas

     Edcanvas is another great resource I found at the the freetech4teachers.com blog. This is a free service that allows teachers to create and easily organize lessons and quizzes online. The lessons do not take long at all to correct. All you need to do is create a free account and then let the fun begin. It just takes some dropping and dragging with you mouse to create an interactive lesson in minutes. You are also able to share the lessons in a number of different ways with students and teachers, such as You Tube videos or through your Google Drive.

Cookie.com - A Website for Grades K - 2

Cookie

Cookie.com is a website that has a number of different interactive activities for students in grades K - 2.The site has a number of different tabs across the top dealing with games, stories, videos, worksheets, and arts and crafts. These activities are in the subject areas of language arts, math, social studies, science and more. The nice thing about each of the games is that it gives you a short explanation of what is involved in each game and the grade level/ages that the activities are designed for. The majority of the other tabs are geared more towards K-1 students, but students who may need additional help in certain areas could benefit from a number of these activities.

Fuel the Brain








This site is geared towards K-3 students and have games, interactive activities, and printables in the areas of math, science, and language arts. This is a free resource for teachers and students to use. There is even an option to create your own mini-book that can be printed out and shared with others. The site is easy to navigate and the topics are broken down into specific skills for each area of instruction.

Election 2012

This website by scholastic has a number of different items covering the upcoming election. There is a section for breaking news that keeps you inform as to what is currently taking place during the election. There is a Q and A section that would help students better understand the primary election process. Informative videos that all assist in informing students and a number of different interactive activities to get students interested about the election.

This site has a interactive activity about probability which involves the chances of  a "zooki" winning the race. This is both fun and educational.

Skylink Learning Theater






This is a site put out by a family and school network that a has a number of different resources under the topics: math, reading, science, history, music, guidance, staff development, and teachers. There are a number of different resources under each topic. It is something to take a look at if you are searching for interactive activities, videos, or items to display on your interactive whiteboard.

Weigh the Wangdoodles

Weigh the Wangdoodles

This is a math game that serves as a an introduction to basic algebra. The player is asked to figure out what each "wangdoodle" weighs and in doing so they figure out what number each variable stands for. While your checking out this game you should also visit mathplayground.com, which has a number of additional math activities for students.

VectorKids Flashcards

This online activity is a fun way for kids to practice their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Students select which operation that wish do to and then the highest number in the range and begin to play. The game keeps tract of the amount of time it takes for them to respond and they can pause and restart the timer during the game. The game look likes and functions similar to an iPod.

Math Live

This math resource offers teachers a number of different animated lessons on math topics. The lessons are divided into four topics: number, patterns and relations, shape and space, and statistics and probability.The lessons allow you to pause, fast forward, and rewind during each lesson.


















The other feature on this website is a glossary that provides you with both the definition of math terms and graphics that go along with them.

ABCya

This website has activities for students in grades K-5. All of the interactive applications have been created or approved by certified teachers. The activities have easy to use navigation buttons and voice instructions. There is an activity that walks you through each of the buttons with each grade level.  The activities primarily focus on math and technology related  topics. All of the web-based activities are free. There are also a number of fun Educational Apps available for iPhone, iPod, and iPad.
